Learn how to make this super fun horizontal easel card for truly any occasion!

Horizontal Graduation Easel Card

Hi crafty friends! I've been hooked on Easel Cards! In case you missed it, last week I shared how to make mini easel cards aka: adorable personalized place cards! The week prior to that I created a very simple Vertical Easel Card. Today, I'm sharing how to make that same simple Easel Card, in horizontal form! This is super easy & a ton of fun. I've decided to make this into a graduation card since that time of year is fast approaching!

Check out my full process video below, or if you prefer step-by-step photos & instructions, keep scrolling!

The starting of this project is very similar to the mini easel cards. Be sure you have a lower weight cardstock. I am using 64 lb. The reason for this is you will be die cutting through TWO pieces of cardstock. To begin, cut a piece of paper & fold in half (just like you would a regular card!). I just made sure the width was at least 5.5 inches so I could fit the A2 Liner Die on it.

Place your die cut side down onto your folded cardstock. Be sure to leave a small space at the top of the card base (where it's folded over) to ensure that part does not get cut.

This will give you a folded stitched card! How cute is that!? What's really fun about using our A2 Liner Die for this, is that the beautiful embossed stitching detail will press through to the inside of the "card" -- onto that second half. Not only is that adorable, but it keeps the design nice & consistent! You could, alternatively use an A2 sized card base.

Next, open the card completely and fold one side halfway up, right where the crease is.

This will give you that "easel" in triangle or mountain shape.

Now is the fun part. Grab your Confetti Layered Stencil & make a fun background! For this background, I used Catherine Pooler ink colors Flirty Fuchsia, Sparkling Berry, Orange Peel & Catching Rays. Then I finished off the final streamer layer with some Cookie Dough Astro Paste from Simon Hurley!

I also made a coordinating yay! to go onto the front of my card - the Orange Peel being the background, and some fun glitter paper to match the streamers!

Next, I die cut out another A2 Liner Die, this will go onto of our base we created. I decided to use Flirty Fuchsia direct-to-paper onto the edging of my A2 Liner Die to make a bright and beautiful border.

I then die cut out my Confetti background with the larger Decorative Frame Die - look at how stunning that detail is with the confetti! I then applied the yay onto the center of my fun decorated base.

Now it's time to assemble the front of your easel card! Apply adhesive only on the bottom half of the fold.

Then, place your decorative panel onto the adhesive part of your base.

Now time to work on the inside of your card! You can either cut out some decorative banners, but I actually found some that matched my confetti in my stash that I had already cut out! So I used these on the bottom half of the inside of my card. I also adhered another Larger Decorative Frame to the inside "bottom half" of my card just for a nice decorative touch, plus it leaves a little room at the top to write a sentiment.

Now, cut out the some banners from our Decorative Sentiment Dies & choose a sentiment from our all the happy things Stamp Set. There are SO many possibilities here! Be sure to put 3D Foam Squares or Crafty Foam Tape onto the back of this sentiment before adhering to the inside bottom half.

Place on the bottom portion of the inside of the card - this will act like a little kick stand to give you that easel look. Now - it's complete!

For this card, I had some extra of my confetti paper, so I cut a strip just large enough for the inside top half & stamped a second sentiment "so happy for you!" to go at the top. Just a little extra touch!

The possibilities for the type of card you create in this style are truly endless with our Confetti Layered Stencil, yay! Layered Word Die, all the happy things Stamp Set & our Sentiment Dies. Let me know in the comments, what type of card would you create!?

With heart,

Emily
