Hello paper crafting friends! Today I am sharing a super fun card that I know you all will love...a pop up card! That's right, when this card opens up, it pops up with a fun dramatic flare! Perfect for kids birthday cards, special occasions & more, this card is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Check out my full tutorial video below to see how simple it is to make this fun card (plus sneak peeks to some new products coming soon)!
Today, we are using our Decorative Sentiment Dies for the pop up element. Grab the larger decorative frame & cut it out like normal. Also create a Vertical A2 sized card base.
For this card, I used some really beautiful patterned paper from Catherine Pooler called Roses & Lace. We did have this in stock, but ran out quickly & will be getting more soon! For the blog, I'm just sharing an example in white cardstock because it's a little easier to see.
Next, score your lines at 1.25 inches and 2.25 inches, just in the middle of your decorative frame. This just gives you a guideline to cut the slits & keep them nice & straight (& centered).
Now, carefully take your blade & cutting mat & cut out the strips in the center of your decorative frame.
Fold your paper in half. Be sure to move the flap/strap outward so it's "popping" out from the base. This will give you that "pop up" element!
Next, create a decorative piece that you'd like to have popping up once you open the card (this will go onto the strap we created!). Here, I used a newer (not yet released) circle die that we have coming soon! This is the perfect size, because once folded down, it still fits inside the card.
Our yay! Layered word die fits also, but something smaller, just under 3 inches should work well. If you need more space for the piece you are adding, just cut more to the right, making that side longer so it has more space to fit.
To adhere your pop up element, only put adhesive on the right side of the middle strap.
Then, place your decorative element down!
Take your A2 card base, and place the decorative frame in the center of the inside of your card base, so that the creases line up. Make sure you put adhesive everywhere on the back of your decorative frame except that middle strap.
Now you have your pop up element! You can decorate the inside of the sides of your card with the smaller decorative frame in the Decorative Sentiment Die Set, they fit perfectly horizontally.
Then just decorate the front of your card!
I shared a lot of sneak peeks in this video! I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know, will you try out this fun pop up card!?
Sending you a paper hug, Emily
