Hi crafty friends! I am very excited to share this SUPER fun project with you today! I really enjoyed making the Simple Easel Card last week, and then I thought - why not make more!?
Did you know, you can make an Easel card out of practically any shaped die? Today, I am using the small rectangular decorative die in the our Decorative Die Set (back in stock, by the way!) to create a mini easel card that can double as a place card! You can see my full process video below on my YouTube, or if you keep scrolling, I have step-by-step photos & instructions for you also!
To start - be sure you have a lower weight cardstock. I am using 64 lb. The reason for this is you will be die cutting through TWO pieces of cardstock. To begin, cut a small piece of paper & fold in half (just like you would a regular card!). I just made sure the width & length was large enough for the die I was using.
Place your die cut side down onto your folded cardstock. Be sure to leave a small space at the top of the card base (where it's folded over) to ensure that part does not get cut.
This will give you a folded decorative card! How cute is that!? What's really fun about using our Decorative Dies for this, is that the beautiful embossed detail will press through to the inside of the "card" -- onto that second half. Not only is that adorable, but it keeps the design nice & consistent!
Next, open the card completely and fold one side halfway up, right where the crease is.
This will give you that "easel" in triangle or mountain shape.
Now, cut out another small decorative frame, this time - use some fun paper & decorate it!
Apply adhesive only on the bottom half of the fold.
Then, place your decorative panel onto the adhesive part of your base.
Now, cut out the smaller banner die from our Decorative Sentiment Dies & choose a sentiment from our all the happy things Stamp Set. There are SO many possibilities here! Be sure to put 3D Foam Squares or Crafty Foam Tape onto the back of this sentiment.
Place on the bottom portion of the inside of the card - this will act like a little kick stand to give you that easel look. Now - it's complete!
I also did a couple with some photos of my dog Georgie! Look how adorable he is!
If you had photos for a graduation, baby shower, wedding shower, or even birthday - this would be such a fun idea for the tables! I did the one below of Mike & I with our larger decorative frame using the same exact process above.
If you want to see a short video of my "yay!" shaped easel card, you can check that out HERE. It's the same exact process!
I am thinking I might make these for Thanksgiving & Christmas time for all my nieces & nephews for the dinner table! These truly were so much fun to make - I really hope you try it out! Let me know in the comments what other occasions you could use these adorable propped up place cards for.
With heart,
