Check out how simple it is to create a square pocket card for Mom this Mother's Day!

How To Make A Square Card

Making a square card is really quite simple! What I love about a square card is more square footage (pun intended) & space on your card to decorate & add pockets! The size square card we are making today (5.25 x 5.25) is the perfect fit for our latest Gift Card Holder Die - With A Bow. Check out my full process video below to see how this card came together!

With Mother's Day quickly approaching, I felt inspired to create a card featuring the Catherine Pooler Just Mom Word Die. & hopefully something that inspires all of you!

For today's card, I chose a bright floral patterned cardstock for the base of my card. This square card is simply scored at 10.5 inches by 5.25 inches - perfect for inserting our Gift Card Holder Die - With A Bow into. It has a middle score line of 5.25 inches as well, and I knew I had to simply decorate the front of my card with that word die.

I roughed up the edges of my pretty yellow patterned paper with my Sizzix distressing tool. I have a separate blog post & tutorial video all about that tool & how much I love it! It definitely added some much needed texture for the front of my simple card design. I also stacked the 'mom' word die with 3 separate cut outs, allowing for more dimension. I placed the 'mom' word onto the front of my card with some thin foam squares

In order to create a pocket for the inside of my card, I simply cut some more of that lovely floral patterned paper to 5.25 inches wide, so it would fit perfectly inside my card. It's really as simple as that, and adding the tape in the correct places! The bottom & sides only. Then it was as simple as creating the remainder of my Gift Card Holder

I already had my bow completed, and if you'd like to see a full process video on how easy it is to put together the bow, you can check that out here. I added some polka dots onto the main "gift" part of my Gift Card Holder with one of the three layers in our Confetti Layered Stencil. I then added the perfect sentiment from our Graduation & Retirement Stamp Set: relax, unwind & enjoy.

I can't wait to give this card to my Mom on Mother's Day! I know she will be super impressed with that bow.

Here are some good gift card options for Mom's if you need any!

Let me know in the comments if this helped spark some inspiration for Mother's Day for you!
