Hi crafty friends! I realized I haven't done a full blog post on the beloved Gift Card Holder Die and knew this had to be done! Today I am also featuring a crafty friend, the lovely Flora who created a beautiful Gift Card Holder with a coordinating envelope to go with it inspired by the Lunar New Year! Before we dive into all the fun pictures, below is my YouTube video showing exactly how to use the Gift Card Holder Die, as well as our Numbers & Gifting Stamp Set.
What is the Gift Card Holder Die? How is it different?
Emily Moore Designs crafted this wonderful, simplistic version of a gift card holder by creating one die that does all the work for you. The main difference is the slots being diagonal from each other, this was imperative, as I didn't want any chance of the gift card slipping out. Otherwise, what is the point? The other difference is that this is one simple die. One cut, and you have your gift card holder ready to decorate! I wanted to make this as simple as possible so everyone could use this die. Even if you've never die cut before!
The Numbers & Gifting Stamp Set add the perfect addition to your gift giving. The idea behind this stamp set was to provide you with the ability to add the dollar amount of the gift card onto the "back" of the gift card holder. That way, the person receiving the gift will know how much is on the gift card. Also included are some cute sayings, "don't spend it all at once", "enjoy your gift!" and "gas money". Gas money was inspired by my husbands grandma, who sometimes gifts us gas gift cards for birthdays. The ideas are endless!
Flora kept her design simple as far as the gift card holder, but adhered it to the back of her beautiful card, and the red really makes it pop! It's nice enough to leave as is, like Flora did here, and adhere it to the inside or back of your card. Flora was inspired by the Lunar New Year, you can read all the details into Flora's card on her blog here!
Sizing Information
The Gift Card Holder Die is 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches in width, which fits perfectly inside my Sizzix Big Shot. I get this question a lot, and I tell people as long as the opening on your die cutting machine is larger than 3.5 inches, so 4 inches, it should work just fine! I also created this to fit perfectly inside of an A2 sized card (5.5 x 4.25) - just like Emily Moore Designs Paper Pack! This just means, it fits perfectly also inside of an A2 sized envelope, if you just wanted to gift the Gift Card Holder to someone. Another wonderful idea, and one I did throughout the holiday's is to create pocket cards! Pockets make a wonderful creative way to gift your gift cards.
You can even put a photo in the slot instead of a gift card, if creating a tag for gifting! I like to back it up with a gift card holder, and make it into a tag, but either way, this is a fun idea for graduations (it will fit a wallet size photo), birthday's and more!
The Gift Card Holder Die has a very special place in my heart for a few reasons. It's really the first design idea I had as far as something unique and I felt (and still feel) very strongly that this is a revolutionary idea. I LOVE receiving gift cards, I feel it's thoughtful, especially getting a gift card to somewhere you love, and I've just made it possible for you to make it more personal. I think the idea of gifting a gift card is to make gift giving simple, which is so true! But, why not add your own personality to it, and gift it with a handmade card. I think it truly makes it that much more special.
Below is a picture of the "prototype" I created, before having a sketch or anything. It's a bit blurry and dark, but this was my starting point!
How neat is that? I hope this answers any questions you have about our Gift Card Holder Die and gives you some inspiration to create with your own! If you haven't gotten yours yet, don't wait! Grab it here today!
