Make a Square Easel card with a diagonal fold & add some beautiful moths for a fun detail!

Square Diagonal Fold Easel Card: With Moths!

Hey crafty friends! Emily here today & I'm very excited to be sharing with you a couple of moths from our latest dies, Make a Moth Die Set Collection. From now until the end of January, you will be able to get all 4 of our Moth Die Sets in one bundle for just under $65!

For this card, I am using Lorelai & Twyla, but you can truly use any of the moths that make you smile!

Once you see all the fun stuff you can create with these beauties, you won't want to stop. Today I'm going to be sharing with you all how to create a square easel card with a fun diagonal fold. This card looks super stunning & complicated but really is simple to create! Feel free to follow along below in my video that's only 5 minutes &/or keep scrolling for step by step photos.

The card I created is a bit smaller at 4 inches x 4 inches. You could do this style card with any even dimensions to create a square. I started with a pretty blue colored cardstock and trimmed it down to 4 inches wide by 8 inches in width. You will score this right in the center at 4 inches (on the 8 inch side).

The diagonal portion of this card is easier than it looks! I share a neat trick in my video above of how to get it lined up perfectly, but you basically want to score from the outside corner to the inside corner in the center (4 inches).

This will create a sort of mountain looking fold. For the front of our card, we want to create a square base so when it's set up, we have something beautiful to look at!

Using the larger frame in the Decorative Sentiment Die Set, I die cut out in some pretty green glitter cardstock. Then, I trim on the longer side for it to be 3.5 inches. You could even go down to 3 inches if you are doing the same sizing as me!

In order to not have a regular straight cut edge at the bottom, I decided to cut out our  Horizontal Pocket Die. I then run the horizontal cut out with the Decorative Frame so they are the same width. I line it up with the already cut out Decorative frame & now I have a square for the front of my card base!

Our Small Style "hello" Word Die fit perfectly on the white portion of this card. I then knew Lorelai would fit perfectly on the top of this card! I really love the colors of this one.

In order to get this on the front of your card you will secure it to one side of the diagonal fold. For this type of fold, you will adhere it to the "left" side of the front, or left side of the diagonal fold.

This way, when you open the card, you can prop it up & put it on display!

Now for the "inside" of this card, or more like the display stand. I stamped "so proud of you" from our all the happy things Stamp Set in silver embossing powder (to go with our silver theme on the moths!). I glued this down completely flat on the bottom part of the card.

I knew I wanted Twyla to be the "kickstand" for my easel, so I placed her on some 3D Foam to make sure she was elevated to hold up the front of the card.

She's hovering just above our sentiment, & I also added some sequins from our Watermelon Sequin Mix & the Upper Peninsula Sequin Mix to the left side of the inside of this card. I also added some to the front around our "hello".

This card was so much fun to make. I LOVE using our moth dies as embellishments like this. Let me know in the comments, is this a card you will be making next??

Hope you enjoyed this one & hope it inspires you to create!

xoxo, Emily
