Craft along with Sabine to create a beautiful moth in a shadow box card.

Shadow box card Moth Lorelai

Moth in a box, box in a card! Box with a moth in a card.

Craft along with me, Sabine, as I create a deserving space for our gorgeous Lorelai in a birthday card.

I have been intrigued by shadow boxes for a while and when we released our precious moths I knew just what to do.

For this card I used the following EMD products:

This card consists of three elements: card base, shadow box and moth. I started by creating the shadow box with white card stock.

I figured out the paper size needed and scoring lines to end up with a box the size of an A2 card. Below you can find my guide. Cut your card stock to 8 ¼" x 9 ½". Score 4 lines from all 4 edges, ½" apart. Cut out the 4 corners and then the angles as shown in the guide.

Once everything is cut and all scoring lines are folded, roll up the frame edges and snug the corners in the angled corners. Use the outer ½" stripe to glue down the frame and then fix the corner with a tiny dab of glue.

My next element is our beautiful moth Lorelai. I used a 12x12 floral patterned paper I've been wanting to use for a while.

I set aside a 5 ½" stripe for the card base later and used some of the rest to cut all moth pieces except the bodies. I also cut all pieces including bodies out of a piece of card stock with Simon Hurley create. Lunar Paste Sike! applied. The small die with the round decorative pieces I cut twice out of each paper.

This is plenty of parts to put together two beautiful coordinating moths. You can make a card with both moths or two of these cards. For assembly you can use liquid glue or adhesive foam to create dimension.

The card base I created by scoring the 5 ½" stripe of patterned paper at 4 ¼" and 4 ¾". If it is a little tight when wrapping around the shadow box make another score line right next to the second score line and fold again.

Use your preferred adhesive to attach the back of the shadow box to the inside of the card base and trim excess pieces of the patterned paper with your favorite paper scissors.

To decorate the front of my card I used some coordinating solid color card stock for the large frame of the Decorative Sentiment Dies.

The banners are also in this die set as well as the ribbon on the bottom. Most of our stamps will fit on these ribbons. I chose one from the All The Happy Things stamp set.

The inside of my card features our smaller Happy Birthday word dies and again some of the elements from our Decorative Sentiment Dies as well as the gorgeous Make A Moth die set - Lorelai, and the Birthday Sentiments stamp set.

All metallic shiny details in this card were created with Simon Hurley create. Lunar Paste Sike!. The stamps were done with Catherine Pooler Designs ink pad Cranberry Fizz.

I hope you enjoyed this blog and the YouTube video as much as I enjoyed creating Lorelai and this birthday card.
