This shiny confetti card is the perfect celebration of the beginning of the new year. Follow along as Sabine shows how she made it.

New Years Fun Fold Card

Hello and Prosit from our crafty corner! Sabine here today. In Germany "Prosit" is a toast and we say it a lot on New Year's Eve.

As we are coming close to the end of the year I wanted to share this fun fold New Year's card with you and how I made it. I wanted it to be a celebration of light and new beginnings. So I hope you enjoy this very shiny paper hug with a twist. Literally!

Below you can find a video where I walk you through the process. Keep on reading for details!

These are the EMD products I used to create this card:
I started by creating a card base from black card stock and cut it to 5 ½" x 6 ¼". I scored it at 2 ⅝ and 3 ⅝ along the long side and folded it in a zig zag. Once it's folded it will be the size of an A2 card.
Next I placed a 4" circle die perfectly centered on my unfolded card base. I only ran it through the die cutting machine to about the fold from both sides, but not across the middle section (where I placed my tape).
Now that the flip flap is created I started decorating the card. I applied some Lunar Paste to black card stock with the Confetti Layered Stencil. I also prepared some extra sheets with just a layer of the paste for other decorative elements.
After I trimmed the confetti sheet I centered the 4" circle die on it to cut out the circle. The frame I created doing that, I placed on the front of my card base with the circles lining up. The circle itself I placed on the back of the round flip flap. Then it is visible when the card is closed.

The beautiful doily from the Shaker Frame Die in Sike! gold is the perfect addition to it and the perfect space for a small "for you" in silver.
On the other side of the flip flap I added a simple clock made out of black card stock, a circle in gold and some stripes of gold.
Using the Happy Birthday Word Dies - Short & Sweet I cut the word "happy" out of black card stock, silver, and a colorful paper I created a while ago with alcohol ink. Layered on top of each other it creates a sturdy piece that can be elevated from the background with just a few micro foam squares.

To add "2026" for the new year I used silver embossing powder on one of the ribbons from the Card Sentiment Dies cut out of black card stock. I layered the black ribbon on top of a slightly longer gold colored ribbon to create some dimension and contrast.

To finish up I added the beautiful detailed edge of the Horizontal Pocket Die on both sides.

I had so much fun creating this card and it is just as celebratory as I envisioned. I hope this blog inspired you. Please leave any questions or suggestions in the comments!

Happy New Year!
Sabine
