Hi friends! Emily here with you today & very excited to be showing off our brand new Gift Card Holder Die - Make a Cake! This one is so much fun to play with, create your own flavored cake with any colors you choose!
Below is a full process video sharing how to create this lovely cake in just over 5 minutes. Keep scrolling if you'd like to see step-by-step photos of how to put this fun gift card holder together!
First, you will cut out the largest die in the set, the base of your cake. Ironically, this will be the least shown portion of your cake, becoming those 3 skinny strips of icing you'll see once completed.

You can also cut out the Gift Card Holder portion, which is the cake layers! See them side by side above.
Below, you will see how they look one on top the other. That is the first step of assembling our cake!

To line up the cake portion perfectly with the base, be sure to line up the center bottom pieces together. Those are meant to layer perfectly so the bottom stays flat with no overhanging & the sides you will see a little bit of the base showing (but that will get covered up by the icing!).
Now time to add your icing! This part is so fun. Be sure to choose whatever color/flavor you would like!
Notice how the large icing piece covers the sides completely, & then leaves room for those 3 skinny pink strips that resemble our icing on the inside of the cake! I encourage you to use patterned paper, or any colors that may inspire you!
Once those elements are glued down, now it's time to add the little details!

I enjoy adding the little icing strips first, the two on the bottom & the large oval on the top! I really find that these elements bring the cake into it's true form!
Now time for the dollops!

What's fun about the dollops is we made sure to have 6 on one metal plate, so when you run them through, you get a bunch in one cut! You get 3 big sized ones & 3 smaller ones. You can add them on your cake any way you'd like!
I ended up clustering them in groups of 3 with some Thin Foam 3D squares & Regular Foam 3D squares to add some dimension between the two.
Now time to add some Sprinkles!! This sequin mix is so fun, & the clay material makes it even more realistic!
I did a sort of "ombre" effect where I clustered a bunch at the bottom & gradually spaced them out going toward the top of the cake, just on the sides. This was really so much fun to put together.
& of course, as always, fits a gift card perfectly! Our Make a Cake Gift Card Holder will fit inside an A2 sized card or envelope, making it easy to gift :)
Now of course this is perfect for Birthday's, but what other celebrations can you think to use it for? Weddings, baby showers, retirement, graduations...let me know how you would use your cake in the comments below & what flavors/colors you're going to try!
xoxo,
Emily :)
