Beautiful layered cards with Moth Betty

Layered Beauty: Make a Moth – Betty Card by Celes

Happy Friday, my crafty friends! Celes here - today Im so excited to share a new Emily Moore Designs project: my Layered Beauty: Make a Moth  Betty Card”—and yes its all about dreamy layers and that statement moth that steals the show.

I went for a soft peachy palette with a subtle scripted background, an embossed panel for extra texture, and a bold focal cluster mixing the Betty moth, a big sunny bloom, delicate little daisies, and those airy leaves that make everything feel light and elegant. A touch of gold here and there (because we love a little shine), and the sweet All For You sentiment finishes it off perfectly.

You can absolutely recreate this look with whatever floral and leaf dies you already have at homebut dont skip Betty shes the star of the show and shes too gorgeous to leave out!

For the card:

Youll need an A2 side-fold card base (4.25" x 5.5").

  • Put together a color palette with the papers you want to combine for your card. (All the papers I used are listed in the video description)

  • For the first panel, choose a patterned paper (in my case, one from the Take Note paper pad by Simple Stories) and cut it to the same size as the card base.

  • Cut two more panels (in two coordinating colors): 3.25" x 4.50" and 3" x 4.25". I embossed the smallest panel using an embossing folder.

  • Adhere the background panel flat onto the card base, then add the two remaining panels with 3D foam to create beautiful layered dimension.

Note: To cut the panels, I used a set of Spellbinders nested dies.

With the card base ready, its time to die cut all of our pieces.

  • Die cut the gorgeous Moth Betty. Mixing solid cardstock with specialty papers (like the foil and glitter papers I used here) is a great way to make the design pop and truly take center stage.

  • I also die cut one large flower to pair with Betty, plus three smaller blooms to complete the composition.

  • Another detail I love: the small leaves, cut from both glitter paper and solid cardstock for extra texture and sparkle.

  • For the sentiment, you can use stamps, rub-ons, or whatever you have in your stash. And dont forget to check out the EMD stamp setstheyre absolutely beautiful! In my case, I used a small sentiment stamp and stamped it with black ink onto a pre-die-cut strip.

Note: Keep an eye on color balance as you build your clusterspread your colors around so everything feels cohesive and intentional.

Assembly:

With the card base ready, all thats left is putting our die-cut pieces together.

  • Give your elements some movement. You can shape the flower petals and gently curl the leaves for a more natural, dimensional look.

  • Make Betty shine her wings deserve a little lift so it feels like she could fly right off the card.

  • Build the cluster using 3D foam. Keep in mind that Betty should have the most heightyoull see in the video that I add two layers of 3D foam to her for extra dimension.

I also wanted to share a second version using a different color palette, so you can see how much you can achieve just by switching up the colors.

And were all done! I hope you enjoyed this layered card idea and feel inspired to create your own versionjust play with your favorite colors, add those beautiful textures, and let Betty (or any of the other gorgeous moths in the Emily Moore Designs collection) truly shine and come to life on your card.

Cant wait to see what you make! Celes
