Hello my crafty friends! Today I have a fun & easy blog post today featuring a neat trick you can use with your ink pads & our Decorative Sentiment Frame Dies! I have a full process video below sharing all the details, but for more photos - keep scrolling!
I am using the larger decorative frame die in the Decorative Sentiment Die Set. I was first inspired by the 12x12 sheet of paper full of journaling cards! I saw these and thought, let's try to create some frames. It turns out, our larger Decorative Frame fits a 3x4 journaling card almost perfectly! Just trim the edges to a little under 3 inches (around 2 7/8) & you'll be able to see all that beautiful embossed detail.
Have you ever used the direct-to-paper method with your Catherine Pooler inks? This is the absolute perfect time to try it if you haven't! Direct-to-paper just means pressing your ink pad directly on top of your paper, this gets you the darkest color of the ink! Do this against the embossed frame of our Decorative Edged Die & you will see true magic!
I used 110 lb white cardstock to cut out my Decorative Frames. I then took the Glacier ink pad, and pressed it directly onto my paper & spread it across the entire frame. Notice how the beautiful embossing detail stays white while the lovely ink colors the paper, making a striking & beautiful frame!
I am using 49 and Market Krafty Garden paper, as well as the chipboard pieces & die cut elements from this collection. What’s nice about having a cohesive collection like this, is it makes it really easy to mix & match different elements to create something beautiful. The most work for me really was just figuring out what color ink would look best!
Here are some more complete in Glacier.
One of the most striking colors I think is this beautiful Catching Rays. It really feels like sunshine! I noticed about halfway through that all of the journaling cards were vertical, so I decided to challenge myself & make one of these horizontal by just adding the sentiment & elements horizontally.
Here is another set of beautiful frames I created in the lovely newer ink color from Catherine Pooler, Succulent. Green is one of my favorite colors & this green in particular has such a lovely & calming effect.
Here’s another attempt at a horizontal design!
I also used the color Mardi Gras for this journaling card, I even ink blended a little bit of the Mardi Gras onto the moth & flower to get more of that bright teal effect for this one.
I even did a couple in plain white & didn't use any inks on these frames! I felt there was enough color in decorative journal cards.
I felt like a lot of these could be used for card making, & some even for scrapbooking! I think you could even frame some photos this way on a Scrapbook Layout if you wanted!
Let me know if this is something you will try in the comments! Do you have a favorite color used - or a favorite frame in particular that I created? I'd love to hear from you, hope you try this one out!
