Hello everyone! It’s Jill here, and I’m excited to share another gorgeous card featuring Emily Moore Designs products. Today, we’re creating a gatefold card using the Moth dies. Let’s get started!
Supplies Needed
- Make a Moth Die Set - Lorelai
- Make a Moth Die Set - Stevie
- Decorative Sentiment Dies
- Just Wanted to Say Stamp Set
- Adhesive tapes or dots
Step 1: Create Your Gatefold Base
Start with an 8.5" x 11" sheet of cardstock (I chose a kraft color) and cut it in half to 5.5" x 11". Place your paper horizontally and score at 2 1/8". Rotate the paper 180 degrees and score again at 2 1/8". Fold both sides inward, creasing well to create crisp folds. Your gatefold base is now complete!
Step 2: Decorate the Front Panels
Using the largest die from the Decorative Sentiments Die set, cut two pieces from the same cardstock. Set one aside for the inside of the card. Take the second piece and cut it vertically in half. Adhere one half to each front panel, making sure to keep the center opening clear so the card can open easily.
Next, use the “Lorelai” moth from the Make a Moth Die Set and assemble it in your chosen colors. This is a great place to get creative—try patterned paper, metallics, or glitter cardstock for added interest! Stamp a sentiment from the Just Wanted to Say stamp set onto a coordinating cardstock strip. I heat embossed mine in gold to match the color scheme of the Lorelai moth.
Now it’s time to assemble: add foam adhesive to only ONE side of the moth and adhere it to one panel. This allows the other side of the gatefold to open freely. Repeat this with your sentiment strip, placing it on the opposite panel for balance and visual interest.
Step 3: Decorate the Inside
Adhere the remaining Decorative Sentiment die cuts to the inside of the card. Cut two pieces of cardstock measuring 1.75" x 3.75". Round the corners if desired, then adhere one to each inner panel. Stamp another sentiment using the label die from the Decorative Sentiments set. I again used gold embossing to tie everything together. Finally, create the “Stevie” moth and adhere it below the sentiment for a sweet surprise when the card is opened.
And there you have it—a beautiful gatefold card! Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!
