Hey crafters! Today I am excited to share another fun way to use our Shaker Frame Die! Don't be fooled by the name "Shaker" - you don't have to use it for just shaker cards! Today I'm sharing how to make some simple yet beautiful framed cards. Check out my full process video below!
Today, I'm using the Catherine Pooler Fleur De Patterned Paper! It comes with these bright colors & lovely patterns that I felt would work perfectly with some Spring Journaling cards I had leftover in my stash. But truly, one of my favorite parts of making these cards were putting together some simple flowers.
I always recommend creating something like flowers in the craft room if you're going through a creative rut, or just feeling like making something without the pressure of completing an entire project. Plus it's so nice to have these handy for when you do want to add them to cards, like the ones we created today!
For these fun framed cards, I cut out two A2 Liner Dies for the base of these cards in plain white. I then chose some patterns from the paper pack & cut those out using our Shaker Frame Die.
Then it was as simple as creating some sort of background for each card frame. I love using journaling cards for this! For the purple card, I used a larger journaling card & made it the entire background of my framed card.
I used Thin 3D Foam Squares around the back base of the frame so it had a slight dimension to it. I didn't want anything too drastic, but you could add more to whatever you prefer!
For the red framed card, I cut out a smaller journaling card in the Oval Doily to put in the center of my frame!
I just love those details on the Doily! For the red frame, I did the same thing & applied the Thin 3D Foam Squares to the back of the base of the frame. Then for the doily part, I added two layers or regular 3D Foam Squares to really give the center piece a lift!
These cards were so much fun to create. I then added the flowers to each of my cards. I used a mix of Thin & Regular 3D foam squares to add dimension. When designing this Shaker Frame Die, I knew I wanted to keep it simple for the base of the design so you could add on your own embellishments, like flowers, snowflakes, leaves, whatever you can think of!
These were so simple & fun to create! I'll make sure to show you the insides of the card later!
Which do you prefer, the red framed card, or the purple framed card? Hope these card bring you some sunny smiles!
xoxo, Emily
