DIY Pumpkin Embellishments

Hi crafty friends! Today I am excited to share a technique that is extremely versatile & stress relieving! A large part of why I love crafting has to do with the mental health benefits, and sometimes crafting can be hard! Or you just aren't feeling inspired. When this happens to me, I find that grabbing my ink & some of my favorite dies to create my own embellishments is something that not only gets me back in the mood to craft, but takes the pressure out of needing to complete an entire card/layout/project. PLUS, now you have some adorable embellishments you can use later!

Check out my full process video below here, make sure to grab your dies at home & follow along with me!

Using my Catherine Pooler Inks here, I used a technique called "direct-to-paper" where you press your ink pad down directly onto your paper to create a nice, stark color. I also ink blended to have a little bit of shading and lighter color options for my pumpkins. I did the same technique with some blues & purples for my little flowers I knew I'd want to put on my pumpkins!

Here's a list of the ink colors I used:

- Mandarin Spice (darker orange)

- Clay Mask (this comes out to be a beautiful light orange)

- Spiced

- Sauna

For the flowers:

- Cummerbund

- On The Lake

- Lilac

- Matcha

I also spritzed the colors with a little bit of mica spray from Tim Holtz to give them that little bit of shimmer.

For the center of my flowers, I used a little Gold Rush Lunar Paste from Simon Hurley & also some of our smallest sequins from our Pascal Sequin Mix. I used a mix of die cuts here, and cut out two pumpkins of each, trimmed off the stem and layered them on so they'd look more realistic!

I had a lot of fun making these pumpkins, this is truly something I love to do - just use my hands to mix & match my very own designs. I'd love to see what you come up with! Be sure to tag me @emilymooredesigns if you are inspired to create your own embellishments!

With Heart,

Em

This is such a cute border. It could also be used for a scrapbook page, just add more pumpkins if you wanted it longer.
