Emily Moore Designs NEW yay! Layered Word Die

All About The yay! Layered Word Die

Hello my fellow crafters! I am extremely excited to be doing a full blog post all about our NEW yay! Layered Word Die! I had a LOT of fun designing this, and I made sure to include fun details that allows you to use as much of your paper as you possibly can! Below I have a full process video sharing how I made three separate cards with just a couple cuts!

First, I want to share the details of our yay! die cuts. The packaging comes with 4 separate dies, but three actual layers of the word "yay" to add some fun dimension & textures. The one separate die is the exclamation point on that final "yay" word die, as you see pictured below.

The most important thing I want  you to notice is our largest of the dies & the detailing of the stitched embossed edging both on the inside AND the outside of the metal. This allows it so when you cut out a piece, you can utilize that outside cut as well for something like a shaker card, or just a dimensional piece like I used in today's video!

You can see this detailing on the outside of this card below:

Another important thing to note is that our yay! Die fits perfectly either horizontally or vertically on an A2 sized card. It's a nice, large word - but not too large that it can't be used with our A2 Liner Die! I love using it with our A2 Liner Die, as that detailed stitching matches and really makes an aesthetically pleasing design, as you can see below!

The second layer of our yay! Die allows for some contrast with the beautifully dainty font. You can omit this layer, but I find using it allows the actual word 'yay!' once cut out to pop nicely! But that being said, imagine all the ways you can use this die cut - you could use just the word, or only two layers, or all 3. You could add dimension, different colors (perfect for a graduation themed card), a shaker card - or more! I truly enjoyed making all these cards in this video. (Check out that funky 3rd one below!!)

You can even use the negative of the pieces like shown above with that glitter cardstock. I think in the future I would cut out a different background for that style, to make the actual word 'yay!' a bit easier to see. But otherwise, the possibilities are truly endless!
I also want to mention that final layer of our word die - the actual word "yay!". I highly recommend purchasing some Adhesive Sheets if you haven't gotten your hands on those already. Using the Adhesive Sheet on the backing of the cardstock before cutting out the thin word "yay" and that exclamation point, is a game changer! It allows you to not have to fuss with glue -- especially with those nice thin cuts.

I paired the above card with our Graduation & Retirement Stamp Set - these sayings go great with the yay! Die! I kept the inside nice & simple with just a "congratulations" but I do want you to know - you could fit the whole "congratulations on your graduation (or retirement)" on our rectangle Card Sentiment Dies. But by leaving it simple, this card could be used for numerous other events, like a wedding!

I also sprinkled the inside of this card with our NEW Pascal Sequin Mix, which matched the greens & purples of this card! Notice that foil on the right side of my card?? That's done simple with some Crafty Power Tape! It really adds a nice touch to the card!

For my second card, I decided to add some 3D Foam Squares onto the yay! cut outs to add some dimension! I also used our Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set here, with our lovely banner die from our Card Sentiments Die Set again. I lined this one with glitter cardstock, which is a fun decorative touch.

I used the stamp "Happy Birthday" in the same font on the inside of the card. So the outside reads "yay! think of all the dogs left to pet!" and the inside reads "Happy Birthday". When coming up with the sayings for our Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set, I wanted to make sure to keep it positive, but not anything too pushy. Birthdays evoke different feelings in everyone - so I made sure to keep that in mind. What dog lover wouldn't love this card on their birthday!

I also lined the inside with some glitter cardstock as you can see above to make the design cohesive throughout the card. I hope you loved watching the video & possibly had some fun crafting alongside me! Let me know in the comments, which card do you like best!?

I’ve been watching this die being used and it’s a great die with the variety of ways to use it. Will you be coming out with more layered word dies just like this yay! die? I hope you do!
